Four fatalities confirmed as tornadoes rip through Mass.
Multiple tornadoes slammed Massachusetts, destroying buildings, flipping vehicles and leaving at least four people dead.
The Massachusetts twisters hit as unstable weather threatened the entire Northeast, bringing tornado watches to Philadelphia, New York and Boston.
The situation in western and central Massachusetts was so bad that Gov. Deval Patrick declared a statewide state of emergency, calling up 1,000 members of the National Guard.
With his European tour behind him, President Obama traveled to Joplin Mo. on Sunday, to offer some healing words to a city ravaged by the worst tornado in decades.
As he did during trips after the tornadoes in Alabama and the flooding along the Mississippi River, the president tried to reassure survivors that they would not be forgotten.
“The cameras may leave, but we will be with you every step of the way until this community is back on its feet. We are not going anywhere,” the president told a memorial service on the campus of Missouri Southern State University. “That is not just my promise. It is America’s promise.”
In an emotive speech peppered by biblical homilies and pledges of national solidarity, Mr. Obama praised the residents of Joplin for coming together in the face of tragedy. He recounted stories of heroism, including that of a 26-year-old manager of a Pizza Hut restaurant and father of two who died while sheltering a dozen people in a pizza freezer, trying to wedge the door shut, before he was swept away.
He also spoke of a father who liked to whistle in church and who had rushed to help members of the community, before he was killed by a falling wall.
“The world saw how Joplin has responded,” Mr. Obama said. “You have shown the world what it means to love thy neighbor.”
Earlier, the president visited with survivors and family of the storm that killed more than 130 people and injured more than 900. At least 40 people remain unaccounted for, as authorities continue to sift through the rubble and accounting for the dead.

Oklahoma City was hit was a major tornado on Tuesday afternoon, part of a system of storms that threatens to hit Joplin, Missouri, the city already devastated by a Sunday twister that killed 122 people.
Tornadoes have torn through parts of the US midwest, killing scores in the Missouri city of Joplin and causing extensive property damage.
The deaths came from a powerful tornado that plowed through the south-west Missouri city of some 50,000 people late on Sunday afternoon.
"At this point we know we are up into the 30 range," the Newton County coroner, Mark Bridges, told Reuters when asked about the deaths.
"We have heard up into the over-100 [range], but ... I don't think anyone has a good count right now," he said of the casualties. He also said that 11 bodies had been recovered from one location.
The storms continued to build on the violent weather this spring in the US, which saw more than 330 deaths last month as tornadoes hit seven states. That included 238 deaths in Alabama on 27 April as twisters battered Tuscaloosa and other urban areas.
The Missouri governor, Jay Nixon, said earlier on CNN that an unknown number of people had died in his state: "We don't have any numbers, but we have had confirmation that there have been deaths."
He declared a state of emergency and announced he was ordering Missouri national guard troops be deployed to help state troopers and other agencies respond to storms that he said "have caused extensive damage across Missouri".
Whole neighbourhoods as well as a hospital in Joplin were badly damaged, according to authorities and local television footage.
"It's done quite a bit of damage," a police officer in Joplin told Reuters. "It hit quite a few parts of town."

What comes to my mind is the offering of strange fire on the altar. Do we not have awesome speakers from our own denomination that can lead out in this? There's CD Brooks, Byron Spears, others that would do an awesome job, but why or why are we going to other denominations about evangelism?

Suzette York, 49, was discovered stabbed to death in a classroom at Memphis Junior Academy Wednesday, where she had been principal since 2008.
Investigators said York, who also taught at the school, suffered multiple stab wounds. The killing reportedly occurred around 11 a.m. Wednesday, with police called to the scene about 11:25.
York was pronounced dead at the scene.
Eduardo Marmolejo, an 11th-grader who was among the 64 students at the Seventh-day Adventist-affiliated school, was on the scene when police arrived.
He told investigators he didn't like York and that she had made him angry, according to Sergeant Karen Rudolph, public information officer for the Memphis Police Department.
"Marmolejo further advised that he knew that he was going to be alone with York which would give him the opportunity to kill her," according to the statement released by Rudolph.
Memphis Mayor AC Wharton Jr. was nearby on Wednesday when he heard the reports on the police scanner, so he stopped to see what had happened.
"Our hearts go out to all those involved in this tragic incident," he said.
"Though the city of Memphis has the lowest homicide rate we've had in 30 years, we know we must continue working with our young people and maintaining our focus on youth violence."
Marvin Lowman, communications director for the Seventh-day Adventist Kentucky-Tennessee Conference, headquartered in the Nashville suburb of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, said he knew the slain educator and was "shocked and saddened" by the news.
York, a native of Canada, began her teaching career after graduating in 1983 from Pacific Union College, a Seventh-day Adventist liberal arts college in California’s Napa Valley.
Memphis Junior Academy is one of 19 church-affiliated schools in the two-state conference, he said.
"You don't expect these kinds of things to happen, especially in a Christian school," he said. "But we're all human, and they do."
He said the school won't be back in session until sometime next week. York has been principal of Memphis Junior Academy since 2008. She taught at the school in the 1990s before going to work in Canada.
She was recruited to return to serve as principal. Among her goals was helping the school -- which until this year had only served kindergarten-through-10th grade -- expand and serve students all the way through 12th grade.

On May 11, 1987, The London Times, one of the world's most respected newspapers, published an explosive article entitled, "Smallpox vaccine triggered AIDS virus." The story suggested the smallpox eradication vaccine program sponsored by the WHO was responsible for unleashing AIDS in Africa. Almost 100 million Africans living in central Africa were inoculated by the WHO. The vaccine was held responsible for awakening a "dormant" AIDS virus infection on the continent.
An advisor to the WHO admitted, "Now I believe the smallpox vaccine theory is the explanation for the explosion of AIDS." Robert Gallo, M,D., the co-discoverer of HIV, told The Times, "The link between the WHO program and the epidemic is an interesting and important hypothesis. I cannot say that it actually happened, but I have been saying for some years that the use of live vaccines such as that used for smallpox can activate a dormant infection such as HIV." Despite the tremendous importance of this story, the U.S. media was totally silent on the report, and Gallo never spoke of it again.
In September 1987, at a conference sponsored by the National Health Federation in Monrovia, California, William Campbell Douglass, M.D., bluntly blamed the WHO for murdering Africa with the AIDS virus. In a widely circulated reprint of his talk entitled "W.H.O. Murdered Africa" , he accused the organization of encouraging virologists and molecular biologists to work with deadly animal viruses in an attempt to make an immunosuppressive hybrid virus that would be deadly to humans. From the Bulletin of the World Health Organization (Volume 47, p.259, 1972), he quoted a passage that stated: "An attempt should be made to see if viruses can in fact exert selective effects on immune function. The possibility should be looked into that the immune response to the virus itself may be impaired if the infecting virus damages, more or less selectively, the cell responding to the virus." According to Douglass, "That's AIDS. What the WHO is saying in plain English is Let's cook up a virus that selectively destroys the T-cell system of man, an acquired immune deficiency.'"

Whatever happens from this incident, the line of distinction between those who serve God and those who serve Him not (including our leaders) will become more disceranable. What our ministers need is
not a motivational speech from a priest of Baal, but rather heartfelt consecration to the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

May each member of God’s remnant church study for themselves and not be deceived by the Balaams in our midst.
