The First and Great Commandment (part 1)
The first four Commandments of Gods Law deals with our relationship to Him.
Let us take a closer look at these commandments and see what God expects of his people. Religious leaders such as Pope Benedict XVI, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robinson, James Dobson, TD Jakes are advocating the keeping of the Ten Commandments. But what does this mean? Why have they change their position?
(1) Exodus 20:1 and God spoke all these words, saying:
vs.2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
vs.3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
The Creator of Heaven and earth is a jealous God... He wants to be first and foremost in our lives... What or whoever we put first in our lives is our god... It could be money, stocks, sports, social position, job, spouse, children, religion, church, tradition, or self. Jesus said in Matt.22:37 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.
(2) Ex.20:4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; vs.5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, vs.6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
The Second Commandment forbids using an image to represent the true God, or any false god. This commandment deals specifically with using physical images for worship or as representations of anything related to worship. This does not condemn the existence of statues or pictures in general—only their use for worship... The worship of idols, graven images (including the Virgin Mary, Saints Peter and all saints, Buddah, bowing down to Popes) is expressly forbidden and even blasphemies.
(3) Ex.20:7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Many people believe that this Commandment only applies to swearing... But it applies explicitly to taking on the name of Christ but living and doing those things contrary to Christ’s love and nature...If I call myself a Christian but living according to the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and the pride of life is taking His name in vain. The doctrine of eternal security or once saved always saved is a doctrine from the pits of hell and an invitation for breaking this commandment. The devil takes great pride in making a mockery of the name Christian...
2 Cor. 11: 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. vs.14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. vs.15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
The Fourth Commandment completes the grouping of the commandments that instruct man in his relationship with his Creator—love toward God.
(4) Ex. 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. vs.9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, vs.10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. vs.11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
God knew that His people would forget this commandment that is why He said remember... The Sabbath was given to Adam and Eve during the creation week...
Gen. 2:1-3 vs.1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. vs.2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. vs.3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. This commandment recognizes God as being the Creator. The fourth commandment requires man to worship God as the Creator on the Seventh Day. The ultimate desire of Lucifer is to be worship. The greatest conspiracy or hoax of all time deals with the Sabbath. Most professing Christians in Catholic, Evangelical, Full-Gospel, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal and other Protestant and non-denominational churches have been taught that Sunday is the day of worship and that the Sabbath has been change from the 7th day to the 1st day... but this change is not found in the Bible. Baal worship or Sun-day worship has always been on the 1st day of the week. The Fourth Commandment is the all-important test commandment. How we keep it demonstrates to God our willingness to honor Him and walk in His ways. Ez. 20:20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God. Jesus said in Jn.14:14 If you love Me you will keep my commandments.1Jn.2:4 states "He that saith ,I know Him and keep not His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him... Is the truth in you my friend? If so KEEP THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH HOLY...
